The guide · Building your brunch

What to eat at brunch?

Eggs, pancakes, bagels, French toast brioches, mocktails… Faced with a generous menu, it is hard to know where to point your fork. Here is how to build the plate that suits you.

The principle

A meal that allows everything

Brunch has one simple rule: there isn't one. Because it spans breakfast and lunch, it lets you put a poached egg and a French toast brioche, a fresh salad and a scoop of ice cream, on the very same table. Nobody will ask you to choose.

At Yona, in La Valentine, you build rather than order: a savoury base for the hunger, something sweet for the pleasure, a drink for the mood of the day. The rest is simply time spent at the table.

Three families, one table

What really goes on your plate

Savoury, for the hunger

Poached or fried eggs, avocado toast, bagels, focaccia, savoury pancakes, burgers and the Yona hot dog: this is the backbone of brunch, the part that fills you up and happily sits in the middle of the table.

Sweet, for the pleasure

French toast brioches, croffles, waffles, fluffy pancakes, red berry bowls and gourmet coulis: the girly side of the meal, the one you save for last — or start with, nobody is judging.

Drinks, for the mood

Coffees and fragrant teas, matcha and chai latte, orange blossom lemonade, smoothies, milkshakes and colourful mocktails: brunch is as much about drinking as eating.

How it works

Building your brunch in four steps

Pick your savoury base

Start with something substantial: an egg, a toast, a bagel or a savoury pancake. It is the pillar of the plate, everything else is built around it.

Add something sweet

A French toast brioche, a croffle or a waffle to share. As a pair or a group, order one for the table: pick, taste, go round again.

Raid your neighbour's plate

That is the whole point of brunch: plates go in the middle and everyone builds their own route, from savoury to sweet, in no imposed order.

Take your time

Brunch is savoured over one or two hours. Finish on a coffee, a tea or a fragrant latte — the tearoom stays open once the kitchen service is over.

The big question

Sweet or savoury? Both, obviously

It is the debate everyone settles on arriving, and always ends up abandoning along the way. At Yona, the menu is designed for exactly that: generous savoury recipes and eye-catching sweet treats, served on the same table, at the same moment.

Refined sandwiches, fresh salads, eggs, pancakes and girly desserts make up an assortment built to be shared. The right answer to “what to eat at brunch” is therefore rarely a single dish: it is a combination.

Your questions about what brunch contains

What do you eat at brunch?

Brunch blends savoury and sweet on the same table: poached or fried eggs, avocado toast, bagels, focaccia, savoury pancakes or burgers on the savoury side; French toast brioches, croffles, waffles, pancakes and red berry bowls on the sweet side. All of it alongside coffees, teas, smoothies or mocktails.

Is brunch sweet or savoury?

Both, and that is exactly what sets it apart from breakfast. The Yona menu blends savoury recipes and sweet delights, with a wide choice of drinks, so you can build the brunch that suits you.

How many dishes should I order for brunch?

Usually one savoury base and one sweet treat are enough, plus a drink. As a group, the nicest approach is to order differently and put the plates in the middle of the table so everyone can pick from their neighbour's.

Are there vegetarian options at brunch?

Yes: several recipes come together without meat or fish, built around eggs, avocado, halloumi or burrata. The whole sweet section and the drinks are vegetarian-friendly too.

What time should I come for brunch at Yona?

The venue is open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm, closed on Wednesdays, and the kitchen is served until 4pm. Late morning and early afternoon therefore remain the ideal slots. Summer hours, subject to change.

Can brunch be delivered to my home?

Yes! Find a selection of the Yona menu for delivery on Uber Eats, to enjoy brunch at home, around La Valentine.
